One reason for the current weakness in GDP development is the high and only slowly declining inflation. It has led to dramatically increased interest rates at historic highs since the financial crisis. Uncertainty about the further development of inflation and interest rates is high, which inhibits economic activity. "The term 'stagflation' is more topical than it has been for decades," says IAW Director Bernhard Boockmann.
